The luxury fashion world is abuzz with speculation as Versace emerges as a sought-after acquisition target. According to Miuccia Prada, head of Prada Group (1913.F), numerous industry players have expressed interest in acquiring the renowned Italian fashion house.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday, Miuccia Prada commented on the growing attention around Versace, stating, “It is on everybody’s table.” This comes amid reports that Capri Holdings (CPRI.N), the parent company of Versace, is working with Barclays to evaluate a potential sale, as first revealed by Reuters in January.
According to sources close to the matter, Prada has been granted exclusive early access to Versace’s financial records, ahead of other potential bidders. The Hong Kong-listed luxury group has reportedly been given four weeks to conduct its assessment before making a final decision on whether to proceed with an acquisition.
Meanwhile, Italian fashion powerhouse Only The Brave (OTB), led by Renzo Rosso, has also hinted at its interest in acquiring Versace. Speaking to Italian financial newspaper MF, Rosso acknowledged the potential deal, suggesting that his group could be a strong contender in the race to take over the iconic luxury brand.
With multiple high-profile names circling Versace, the luxury fashion landscape could be on the verge of a significant shift. Whether Prada, OTB, or another major player steps forward to claim the prestigious label remains to be seen.
